Al-Khattaabi said in Sha’n al-Du’a’ (63): “He is forgiving and grants respite, the One Whose anger does not overwhelm Him and Who is not provoked by the ignorance of the ignorant or the disobedience of the disobedient. One who forgives when he is not able to punish does not deserve to be called Haleem (forbearing); rather the one who is al-Haleem is the One Who forgives when He is able to punish and Who gives respite and does not hasten the punishment.” …more.
The One who bestows favours, both outward and inward, lavishly on His creation despite their many acts of disobedience and transgression, He is gentle upon those who disobey Him an in censuring them so that perchance they may repent and gives them respite so that they may become penitent. …more.

Of Allah’s names, is Al-Haleem (الحليم). What does Al-Haleem mean?
It’s a very very deep name—like all of Allah’s names, it’s very deep. It comes from the root hilm, and hilm means a wisdom and a forebearance that allows a person to control their anger. Hilm is an intelligence that, in our terms, allows someone to control their anger, even if their anger is justified. It allows you to, when you are justifiably angry, to control it and not manifest it. It’s usually translated as “forbearing”, which murders the concept of hilm.
“None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, The Magnificent, The Most Clement. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, Lord of the magnificent throne. None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, Lord of the heavens, Lord of the Earth and Lord of the noble throne.” [Bukhari No 6346, 7431; Muslim No# 2730] …more.
