Lateef comes from the root laam-Taa-faa, which points out to three main meanings. The first meaning is: to be kind, gentle, mild, affectionate, and to bestow with kindness. It also means to be so kind to someone that they don’t notice. The second meaning is: something that’s too tiny or too subtle to be seen or felt. 1- Ibn Abbass (radi Allahu anhuma) said the meaning of the ayah, “Allahu Lateefun bi ‘ebadihi”, Allah is Lateef to His servants, means that He is Kind towards them.
